Easy Marinara Sauce

INGREDIENTS
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 sweet onion diced
  • cloves garlic minced
  • 28 ounces crushed tomatoes
  • 6 ounces tomato paste
  • teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar, or more to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 1/2 cup water



INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Add the olive oil and onion to the pan and sauté on medium low until onions are translucent.
  2. Add the garlic and let cook for 15 seconds or so until you can smell the garlic.
  3. Add in the rest of the ingredients, stirring well, and simmer, covered, on low for 30 minutes. Stir occasionally so it doesn't scorch.
