Rice Cooker Basil Rice

This is a quick easy rice side dish, a little fancier than plain white rice and great with chicken or pork or even just roasted vegetables.
  • 1 cup jasmine rice
  • 2 Tbsp butter/margarine
  • 2 chicken or veggie bouillon cubes
  • 1/8 cup diced onion
  • 1/8 cup diced shallot
  • 2 tsp. minced garlic
  • 2 tsp. dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 cups water
Melt butter or margarine in the bottom of rice cooker. Add rice. Stir until rice is coated in butter. Add remaining dry ingredients and stir. Add water. Turn on rice cooker and let cook until timer pops.
If you don’t have a rice cooker you can follow all of the same ingredients in a microwave safe bowl or on the stove top using the rice package directions.
